Our Man in...
If it´s Tuesday, it must be Berlin!Well, what can I say but Go Greece!! Hope that everyone is well, and enjoying the summer. That is, of course, assuming that you are actually having a summer where you are.
I am in Berlin and it is f***ing freeying (Blasted German keyboard!), but am back to Spain tomorrow to complain about the heat... I am just finishing a tour which has lasted 20 days and actually went quite well, but I am now very tired and am looking forward to doing nothing for the next month, at least that´s the plan.
One of the great things about the job as a tour guide is the people you meet, and this has been no exception. The group have been good- nothing like Americans under the age of 21 coming to Europe- Alcohol here we come! But seriously they have all be ok.
Apart a bout of kleptomania- lifting pillows from hotels - at least it wasn´t the DVD player. Well, as far as I know... This time we have been doing a whistlestop (does that mean very slow is whistlestart?) tour of EU institutions, Commission, Parliament, Bank, etc and it has actually been very interesting although most of the presentations were given by eurocrats meaning that you didn´t get a very objective point of view, but nonetheless all very interesting.
Apparently the ECJ has today passed sentence in favour of the EC meaning that FR and DE will have to pay fines for breaking the Growth and Stability pact as set down in the treaty for EMU. Result! Presumably though the Frogs will contest the decision and wont pay the fines anyway.
We also went to visit SHHHHHHHHHHkoda and the Pilsner Urquell brewery in the Czech Rep which were cool. That´s about it for now.
Will write more when get back to Spain, and have more time...
