I thought it might be a good idea to explain what this site is all about.I lived and worked in Madrid between March 2003 and September 2005. In the summer of 2003, it struck me that the way I kept in touch with friends was by group email, most of which started with the line: "Sorry for the group email, but I will get around to sending individual ones soon."
As you would expect, be it for lack of time, or more probably inclination, I didn't get around to it, and figured that if I was going to send group emails, I might as well recognise the fact, and "Our Man in Madrid" was born. In late 2005, I decided to go global and put it out there for the masses.
So, what you have here is quite a personal view of things that popped into my head when I was in the Spanish capital.
To misquote Bill Bryson, I like it there, more than I can tell you. One day, I'll be back.
